Shell Introduces Engine Monitoring At Textile Site

Shell Lubricants has helped to save Nishat Mills more than GBP20,500 in operating costs by introducing an oil and equipment condition monitoring service and lubricants for its four gas engines. Shell Lubricants began by conducting a full inspection of the gas engine and using Shell’s oil condition monitoring service Shell LubeAnalyst. This service predicts failures so that they can be addressed before they cause costly downtime.

The service involves analysing oil samples at specific points and regular intervals, so that the team of experts from Shell Lubricants can identify component wear and predict equipment failure. Following the Shell LubeAnalyst inspection, Shell Lubricants recommended the use of Shell Mysella XL for the gas engines and Shell Rimula X for the diesel emergency Gensets to help improve overall engine performance. Shell Mysella XL is ‘low-ash’ oil for use in high-output four-stroke gas engines, offering operators up to twice the oil drain interval of industry-standard low-ash gas engine oils, while Shell Rimula XL is approved for use in a variety of diesel engines and non-engine applications by OEMs.

The introduction of the high-performance gas engine oil Shell Mysella XL, supported by regular oil conditioning monitoring and 24-hour troubleshooting support, has helped Nishat Mills to increase the time between oil drain intervals from 2,000 to 5,000 hours as well as reduce maintenance issues and overall operational costs.
